This summer I turned sixty-five and Cliff and I celebrated our fourtieth wedding anniversary. The road has not been an easy one, but we feel that we have been so blessed. As I look back I see God's hand every step or the way -- yes even in the dark hours. Two wonderful sons two beautiful daughters-in-law and three adorable grandsons -- our (my) gifts from God have been so many!
This stage of life is sometime called the "Golden Years." I personally believe that that is expecially true if we have known The Refiner's fire.
I am so overwhelmed when I think that God sent His son to be born, live and die for me -- to redeem me. The beauty of The Faith, the history of God's work (as little as we can know it with our finite minds) is indeed the Greatest Story Ever Told. The responsibility, and that is how I see it, a responsibility, to pass this Truth on is a glorious burden. Lord, let me not shirk that responsibility.
This quote from St. Augustine is one of my favorites:
"Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore seek not to understand that you may believe, but believe that you may understand."
